I led a four-day side event that WHO organized alongside the 2022 Social and Behavior Change Summit in Marrakesh, Morocco.
The world’s largest gathering of communications professionals working in health, development and society occurs on a bi-yearly basis at the SBCC Summit. SBCC stands for social behavior change communication and includes communicators from many different fields including health communication, health education, risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), mass and digital media, and infodemic management.
The WHO side event consisted of four sessions over four days, coorganized by UNICEF:
- “I Survived the Infodemic – Crash Course in Infodemic Management” – Immersive simulation in groups and discussion in plenary, cohosted with UNICEF. See my blog discussing infodemic insights workshop on my LinkedIn blog, What do zombie chickens and bananas causing outbreaks have in common?
- “What Is Your Infodemic Story?” – Interactive workshop in groups and discussion in plenary
- “#infodemicmanaged – Experience Sharing and Innovations From the Field” – Round table, project showcase, and professional networking
- Identifying the drivers of trust and mistrust in emergencies – Interactive workshop in groups and discussion in plenary
I summarized some of the great experiences at the summit in my LinkedIn blog, Unicorns crashed the Woodstock of social behavior change @ 2022 SBCC Summit and expanded the network of infodemic managers.
