👋 Hi, I'm Tina D Purnat.

Digital transformation is changing public health. I help organizations understand what that means for them, then build the systems to respond.

Twenty years at WHO, ECDC, and with governments worldwide shaped a core focus: bridging global evidence and local practice - in digital public health, health information, and policymaking. I translate frameworks and research into tools, processes, and capacity that fit your specific context, whether you're working at a national health ministry, an international agency, or a regional health department. The goal is systems and skills that keep working long after we finish.

Currently:

  • Vice President of Global Health at the European Public Health Association,
  • co-chair of Working Group on Global Health Equity and Digital Transformation at World Federation of Public Health Associations,
  • Associate Editor of JMIR Infodemiology,
  • advisor to Health Promotion International, and
  • completing a Doctor of Public Health at Harvard, where my research centers on systems change and how health systems can better capture community and workforce insights.

Digital Society and Health Information Environments

Understanding how digital technology shapes people's relationship with health information, the spread of misinformation, and the new demands the digital information environment places on health systems and public health practice.

Emergency Preparedness and Resilience

Building trustworthy emergency response systems that center community insights and strengthen resilience. This includes participatory early warning, risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), infodemic management, and cross-sector coordination that builds trust during crises.

Digital Health Transformation and Trustworthy AI

Modernizing how public health uses technology—from designing surveillance systems to evaluating AI-based medical devices and building trustworthy AI standards while ensuring ethical implementation.

Community-Centered Systems Design and Participatory Research

Using participatory methods to ensure health systems actually respond to community needs and frontline insights, whether in routine operations or emergency response.

Evidence Translation and Localization

Turning global guidance and research into practical tools and processes that work in local settings, adapting international frameworks to specific contexts.

Capacity Building and Systems Change

Empowering health workers and their partners through innovative training, participatory design, and systems-level approaches that create lasting change and resilient health systems.
