@IFPH, Univ of Manchester: Keynote and presentation on global health and health information

I gave a keynote talk at the International Festival of Public Health at University of Manchester.

I also presented in a dedicated session of EUPHA Global Health section, with speakers from across Europe, Canada, Australia and the US.

Five themes this year: Global Public Health, Research Inclusion, Women’s Health, Commercial Determinants of Health, and Artificial Intelligence in public health.

What sets IFPH apart is the model for the festival. It is free to attend, run by a team on top of their day jobs precisely so that cost never becomes the barrier that keeps early-career researchers, teaching-focused staff, and under-resourced institutions out of the room.

Students and local community organizations participate alongside experienced researchers and policymakers.

I admire this and the other design choices the organizers make to open and broaden the space for inclusive discussions of public health.
