I led the work researching the social listening practices of public health professionals during COVID-19 pandemic.
We received the best poster award at #icimth2023 for our short communication reporting some results of the survey we conducted among those using social media analysis tools for public health.
Summary:
- The use of social media analysis for infodemic management has increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- This is the first survey we are aware of to seek the views and experiences of those using social media analysis for public health.
- Results indicate a number of short- and longer-term needs that can be addressed
- These responses are from those experienced in this work (average of 4.4 yrs), the needs of less experienced people or new workers are likely to be higher.
- There were 2 broad findings, the need for increased training, and increased capability of social media analysis tools applicable to public health.
- Social media analysis is just one part of social listening and should always be integrated with other sources.See more:
